In the not-too-distant future, following the corporate war for control over data, resources, and power, governments bestowed extraterritorial privileges upon the corporations. Each corporation began to broaden their domains and established their own legal systems. As a result, governmental influence waned rapidly. Advances in technology such as functional artificial intelligence, virtual reality in gene editing, and sophisticated robotics enhanced the quality of life significantly.

The protagonist of "Softlinxxx" has just developed an innovative drug to alleviate the side effects of intensive medical treatments and therapies. As the inventor, the protagonist's profile extends beyond that of a virtual reality scientist to become a person of interest; they are now a marked individual. Yet, the main character is not going to be an easy target.
